Anchor Playhead (⌃⌘A)

Keeps the playhead fixed in position as the timeline scrolls beneath it during playback or edits.

When Anchor Playhead is ON, the timeline moves while the playhead remains centered — ideal for precise subtitle timing.

Autosave ( ⌃S)

 Fuse automatically saves your project progress at regular intervals, preventing data loss in case of unexpected shutdowns or crashes.

You can toggle auto-save behavior using Control + S, or adjust settings in Preferences for frequency and location.

Create Subtitles Manually (⌥N)

Adds a new blank subtitle box to the selected layer for manual input.

You can then set start and end times manually, and type your own subtitle text directly on the timeline.

Dynamic Split (⌘K)

Analyzes long subtitles and intelligently splits them into smaller, equally distributed parts without cutting mid-word.

Perfect for readability improvements. Fuse runs multiple passes of linguistic analysis before performing each split.

Edit Subtitles

• Double-click a subtitle on the timeline to edit its text, start, or end time;
• Single-click a subtitle on the playback overlay to directly edit it inline;
• Drag subtitles horizontally to change timing or vertically to move them between layers;
• Resize subtitles by dragging their edges to retime them manually;
• Press Esc to cancel or exit editing mode.
  Fuse supports rich inline editing with real-time resizing of subtitle boxes.

Export (⇧⌘E / ⌃⌘E)

Export your project subtitles to standard formats:

• SRT – Shift + Command + E;
• VTT – Control + Command + E.

You can export one or multiple languages simultaneously, and Fuse preserves timing and encoding automatically.

Export Burn-In Media (⌘E)

Creates a video with subtitles permanently embedded (burned in).

Fuse preserves the original media resolution and quality, and you can choose which language(s) to burn in.

The exported file is ideal for social media or delivery platforms that don’t support sidecar subtitles.

Find / Find & Replace (⌘F)

Search through your subtitles quickly. You can find words, phrases, or use replace mode to correct text globally.

Case-sensitive and regex options are supported.

Generate Subtitles (⌘G)

Automatically transcribes your audio or video using the selected model (Tiny → Large).

Fuse places subtitles directly on the timeline, matching detected speech segments.

You can edit, translate, or export them afterward.

Imports (⇧⌘I / ⌘I)

• Audio Import: Shift + Command + I;
• Video Import: Command + I.

Fuse supports most modern formats (MP3, WAV, MOV, MP4).

Imported media automatically generates a waveform during subtitle generation, and duration preview in the timeline.

Layers / Tracks (⇧⌘N / ⇧⌘D / ⌘U / ⇧⌘U)

Manage multiple subtitle layers easily:

• New layer: Shift + Command + N;
• Delete selected layer: Shift + Command + D;
• Move layer up: Command + U;
• Move layer down: Shift + Command + U.

Each layer can hold subtitles in one language or category (e.g., captions, translations).You can rename, recolor, or rearrange them anytime, by double clicking over the layer name or layer box.

Magnetic Snap (⌃⌘M)

When enabled, subtitles and clips “snap” perfectly into place when dragged near the playhead.

This helps align start/end points without gaps or overlaps.

Models (⌃M)

Fuse uses Whisper models for transcription and translation:

Fuse offers a model management system, for better control:

• Control + M opens the Model Management window;
• You can download, update, or remove models;
• Click “Open Directory” to view stored models.

Fuse checks for duplicates, manages updates, and ensures efficient disk use.

Push Timeline (⌘P)

Shifts all subtitles and markers forward or backward in time by a set offset — ideal when the entire timeline is slightly out of sync with audio.

A dialog lets you enter the offset in seconds.

Recent Projects List

Fuse automatically displays your recently opened projects at launch, letting you pick up exactly where you left off without manually searching your files.

Resizable Timeline

You can drag the divider between the timeline and playback window to resize them.

This lets you give more space to either subtitles or the video preview depending on your focus.

Sub-Stack (⌘L)

Converts long single-line subtitles into two lines for better readability (subtitle stacking).

The feature analyzes text length and breaks intelligently at natural word boundaries.

Visual Layer

The subtitle overlay on the playback screen mirrors your selected subtitle layer in the timeline.

This means any edit or color change is instantly reflected in the video preview — ensuring visual consistency.

Waveform

When media is imported, Fuse automatically analyzes the audio track and generates a high-precision waveform.

This visual aid makes it easier to spot speech, pauses, or music, so you can position subtitles accurately.

Zoom Timeline (⌘+ / ⌘–)

Zoom in and out of the timeline for precise subtitle control.

You can also drag the zoom slider for continuous adjustment.

How to Move Across the Timeline

• Two fingers (trackpad): Pan horizontally;
• Click & drag empty space: Move the playhead;
• Single click: Select subtitle or layer;
• Shift + click: Multi-select;
• Scroll over playback window: Move playhead smoothly;
• Esc: Deselect all;
• Return (Enter): Confirm or dismiss warnings.

Exports — Estimated Time & Hardware Impact

Fuse dynamically estimates export duration based on your hardware (CPU/GPU cores, memory, active model size, and export format).

For heavier formats like ProRes or multi-language burn-ins, times increase proportionally.

The estimate auto-updates as export settings change.
